Part 2 - Whale Watching & Cruise Day 3

Next stop Juneau, Alaska's state capital for a salmon hatchery, bears, glaciers, whale watching, cable car rides and very unexpected celebrity spotting.

Mendenhall Glacier...

The stream contained salmon that had already spawned and were totally spent...

They took on a deep pink colour and were literally falling apart...

A last minute change of plan takes this salmon away from the black bear hiding behind the bush, but who's reflection can be seen in the water...

Our first full sighting of an Alaskan black bear fishing at the edge of the pool...

This one has a salmon under its paw...

Dinner time...

Remains after a bear has had its fill. We also saw a cub at very close range here before it quickly disappeared into the undergrowth...

First signs of the glacier, mini bergs floating in its lake...

Mendenhall Glacier...

Miche in full sepia glory by the ship...

Apparently this is Paul Allen's smallest yacht 'Méduse' at a mere 198 feet and including a snug helicopter cosy...

A cable car trip up Mount Roberts for a quick hike and a view of Juneau...

Four cruise ships in port many there to snap up 'traditional' tanzanite and alexanderite jewelery...

We went for dinner at the Hangar on the Wharf a pub on the dockside and saw Larry David down below (poor photo, but it was him)...
