Train journey from Anchorage to Denali...

Early morning mist...

A beautiful clear crisp day...

Trees drowned by a beaver-made lake...

Leaves turning gold on the banks of the Susitna River...

Approaching the 296 foot high Hurricane Gulch suspension bridge...

Amazing views from the Goldstar Dome train...

Miche checking that we're following the right route...

The changing leaf colours were fantastic...

Denali National Park

Now that's what I call a bull moose...

Nice rack...

Piqued by another photographer, this chap takes a front footed position...

Our first grizzly at close quarters...

There was a bit of a chase was going on here, the bear in the foreground was chasing the bear on the ridge and another bear hidden by the bushes in this picture...

Mount McKinley (Denali - 'The High One' in Athabascan)...

Mr Moon was visible for most of the morning...

Push-me-pull-you? Mountain Sheep... we saw quite a few of these, but most were stretched across distant mountain sides (We also saw caribou)...

The braided rivers glistened silver in the sunlight...

Our ride to Eielson... old converted school buses (no cars allowed on the 90+ mile long park road after 14 miles from the entrance)...

Mount McKinley rises up steeply from its relatively low lying neighbours, it has the largest height gain from base camp to summit of any of the world's major mountains...

Up close, the left summit (South Peak) is the highest at 20,320 feet, the right summit (North Peak) is 19,470 feet...

Moose dreams... the antler was unwieldy and very heavy...

Golden Eagle... we saw a pair, but they were difficult to get in the picture...

A chilly looking Miche...

A sad tale... these two huge bulls had become locked and both died of starvation...

Miche and Mt McKinley...

Less than a week after this shot, all the hotels and National Park facilities were closed down for the Winter...

Lots of warnings, even in the village... bear stand your ground, moose run (even though they can run faster than us)...

Miche at Horseshoe Lake...

Man in hat...

Miche at the train station, next stop Fairbanks...

Next destination - Fairbanks & the Arctic Circle
