Part 2 - Flamingos, Buffalo & Rhino

Part 3 - Lizards, Lake & Birds

We took a brief stop for water in Nakuru - Kenya's 4th largest town, where smoking is totally banned and is also the site of the fantastically named 'Job Hunters Pub'.

Then off to nearby Lake Nakuru National Park...

Outside the park gate...

Just inside the gate, our first encounters are with baboons...

Not for the squeamish, this female is in season and what was not particularly attractive in the first place, becomes even less so...

Full of attitude, this male wouldn't budge for anyone ...

Marabou stork - up to 5 feet tall and with a wingspan over 10 feet across... Miche at 4 feet 11, with a wingspan of about 5 feet...

The tree and car give them a sense of scale...

Coming in to land...

Now for a zebra-fest...

They may not be rare or elusive like much of the other wildlife, but I do have a soft spot for them...

All the ones we saw were Burchell's (or Common or Plains) zebra...

Relief from the flies and hot sun...

Not 100% sure if this foal is dead or just resting, the mother looked a little mournful, but it's all too easy to anthropomorphisise...

This foal is a lot perkier...

Zebra botherer...
