Alas it was our last day, but we headed to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum just round the corner from the airport in Chantilly, Virginia.

View into the hotel atrium from our room...

I'm no plane spotter, but there were some mightily impressive aircraft and spacecraft here, it had everything from Concorde to Cruise Missiles and the Gossamer Albatross to the Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer and everything in between.

Lockheed SR-71 - Blackbird...

The main reason for going was to see the Space Shuttle Discovery, that had been delivered 6 weeks prior to our visit...

The famous tiles...

Miche inspects the toilet arrangements for spacemen...

The spacewomen's toilet arrangements appeared to be more nappy based...

Scary to think what this B-29 Superfortress aircraft had done 67 years previously...

Looking into the Enola Gay cockpit...

I couldn't fit the whole Concorde in the shot...

Oh dear...
