Day 2 always billed as the hardest and longest day of the trek.

The dinner the previous night was impressive - fresh trout from the pens on the nearby stream. Considering the circumstances, the chefs managed culinary miracles every day. The advice at altitude being, eat early in the day and no alcohol.

Up before dark, though it looks Spartan, the tent was perfectly fine and we were even spoilt on the first night as we were on grass rather than stones. The toilet tent at the back and our red plastic wash bowls & stainless steel coca tea cups at the front...

Breaking camp at Wayllabamba - our rucksacks and the day's snack selection on the blue tarpallin...

That profile again - we had 1200m to climb and 700m to descend to get to the next campsite...

This was the last place on the trail where we could stock up on extra provisions for the remaining days - the ladies had come up from Wayllabamba, the last populated village on the trek...

Onwards and upwards... increasingly slowly as the altitude took an effect - the pass looks as far away as did in the morning...

The Sun was powerfully hot, but the breeze could be chilly - Miche covered up at the top as we waited for the 'Eddy Steadies'...
