We arrived in Revelstoke and took a tour around and spotted this place. It was okay, but we much preferred the Village Idiot...
Lured by North America's largest vertical drop of 5620 feet from top lift to base.
Phil joined us at midnight after a tortuously long journey from the UK (serves him right, he should have come for both weeks!).
Up on the hill and the and the bluebird weather had followed us from
Kicking Horse, it snowed all of 1 cm in the 6 days we were at
Revelstoke, but it was cold and uncrowded, so we still found fresh
powder every day, especially in the trees.
Ian at the top of the run beneath the gondola...
Well...
Phil, me, Andy & Ian on the Ripper Chair...
An area of huge ice crystals...
Up close...
Phil glides by...
Sun beams breaking through the mist...
It was grey nearly everyday when we
awoke in Revelstoke town, but we nearly always rode in sunshine as the
gondola lifted us through the clouds...
Whiskey Jack (that's the name of these birds, honestly)...
Warning sign near the point where you can traverse outside the ski
boundary and into the backcountry, but it was way too tempting not to...
It's that inversion again...
Panoramic view...
Andy, Ian & Phil near the top of Stoke Chair...
Planning our routes...
Looking down towards the clouds...
Sun setting across the valley...
We basked in the late afternoon sun before heading down...
Lengthening shadows, time to go as we were still at the top of the mountain...
