Waikiki

Banyan Tree outside the hotel...

Sunset shots from Kuhio Beach at Waikiki...

Statue of Duke Kahanamoku... the father of modern surfing...

I took a surfing lesson while I was there, I was pleased that I was able to get up and ride the board to the beach. I also rubbed off the skin on my arms and legs groping around on the board and paddling back out to sea.

A line of surfers waiting in the swell for a wave...

Thin Shelled Rock Crab...

Do not adjust your set... a
Brazilian Cardinal with its incredibly vivid red head...

A typical Luau... including pork, coconut and banana leaves...

Rainforest Walk

A short walk from one of the island's plush golf courses and we found ourselves in lush rainforest...

Nuuanu Pali Lookout at Kaneohe high among the eerie spires of the Koolau Mountains...

Legend that says that in 1795, King Kamehameha I, the unifier of the Hawaiian Islands, forced thousands of his opponents to jump from the cliff to their deaths...
