Whistler
The overnight big snowfall became the all day
the next day snowfall with huge flakes. It meant the alpine was closed and
only the more knee-shuddering lower slopes were available...

So time to check out some of the new village
offerings - Stinky's...

An Ice Hockey / Music bar with local
beers on tap - I was sat at their Pink Floyd table...

The next day couldn't be more different -
blue skies and the alpine loaded with fresh snow. However blasting
continued into late morning, keeping it closed and when it did open the
throng of Friday day-trippers up for the fresh snow meant the queues
were massive.
On top of that, I had a lunchtime bus to
Vancouver to catch for an evening there...

Once
again the trees came to my rescue - though a speedy, upside down 'brush'
with one did mean I left the town with a bit of a limp...

One of my favourite easy access tree runs...
Under the Peak-to-Peak gondola...

Canucks Ice
Hockey...
The temporary and early exit from Whistler was to head to Vancouver to see
the Canucks take on the Colorado Avalanche at the Rogers Arena.
Ever
health conscious a traditional pre-match meal...

Anthem time - the Canadians had a
more tongue-in-cheek approach to the holding of long notes during the
anthems...
Into the action... "Let's go Canucks"...

A bit of
roughing - 2 sin-binned after this flare-up...
After a 4-game losing streak the Canucks won 6-3 in the
most entertaining ice hockey game I've been too...
BC Place next door - home of the
Vancouver Whitecaps...
This place promised 40 beers on draught and wasn't exaggerating...

Good morning Vancouver - view of
Yaletown from Jane's apartment...
After an
early morning bus back to Whistler I decided that the bruising and pain from
the tree encounter meant that I wouldn't ride on this last day and I cashed
in my lift pass.
The stream between Whistler & Blackcomb bases -
upstream...
Downstream...
Time to pack up
and get the shuttle back to the airport.
Farewell to the hotel, happy
with it - a flat walk to the base and close to the mid-village shops and
facilities...
Howe Sound
Being a smaller shuttle
bus rather than a coach, it stopped halfway for a comfort break on the
beautiful Howe Sound...
The
black dot on the surface is a scuba diver; the bay is very popular with
divers and the buoys in the distance indicate boundaries and the locations
of wrecks that have been sunk to dive on - strictly a dry-suit dive...
Looking south...
Obligatory photo of the familiar, but still impressive aquarium at the
airport...
The mountains beyond,
who knows when I'll be back, not too long hopefully...
