Ketchikan - Part 2 - Float Plane

Our first Alaskan port of call... Ketchikan prides itself on its Salmon and its liquid sunshine. We managed to be there on what turned out to be a beautiful clear day...

Miche up and almost awake by the beautiful and elegant Statendam after we disembark...

Salmon making their way through town on their spawning run... for Pacific Salmon this is a one-way journey...

Sea Kayaking 

We had an excellent morning's sea kayaking with South East Sea Kayaks (www.kayakketchikan.com).

Our craft await...

Paddle harder up front...

 

Beautifully calm, we saw the occasional salmon leaping as we paddled and we were able to watch an immature bald eagle on its nest... 

 

Action...

We had to remind ourselves that this was the sea as it was so calm...

Back to the boat to wait for the float plane to pick us up...
