An early morning start to return to one of our favourite places

First off a train to Freemantle...

Off to Shed B to catch the Rottnest Express ferry for the trip to what the locals affectionately call 'Rotto'. The 30-minute trip can get a bit rough, but we were fortunate to have a calm crossing...

After that early start we headed straight to the Dôme Café for breakfast, at the entrance we were met by this friendly chap...

The resident Quokkas on Rottnest are incredibly trusting and happy to approach you...

Well, we're in Aus, so it had to be smashed avo on toast...

Outside another quokka takes a nap, they're also known as short-tailed scrub wallabies, but 'quokka' seems to suit them far better...

They're inquisitive enough to enjoy a wander in the island's store and need special doors to keep them from coming in...

Fortified with poached eggs, avocados and caffiene we hired bikes to pedal around the island...
