As we'd heard that it was so rare
to see the summit, I couldn't help taking another shot each time there
was a patch more of blue sky...

Devils @ Cradle
Later that day we visited a conservation centre for the much maligned and much misunderstood Tasmanian Devil...


Miche stroking a young Devil called 'Ossie', who we later adopted...

Feeding time Tasmanian Devil style is a very noisy event.
The Devils are not as aggressive as they are portrayed, they have no territories as such and their barking and mouthing is a form of communication...


They can open their jaws to 90 degrees; useful when taking on their favourite prey - Wombats and their thick necks. Their scavenger reputation is only partly deserved as they hunt and kill most of their prey themselves...


A spotted-Tailed Quoll - a carnivorous marsupial...
An Eastern Quoll, now extinct on mainland Australia and only found in Tasmania...
