We visited The Egyptian Museum (EMC), it's to be replaced by the new Great Egyptian Museum (GEM) located near the pyramids at Giza, which will be huge, slick and airy, but there seemed something special about the EMC with its dusty cabinets and amazing artifacts crammed into shelves. The GEM has now been built and our worry was that the most famous items would be transit between the two sites, however things move slowly and the GEM project was years behind schedule though it is due to open in mid-2024 so the move is imminent at the time of writing this.
