Sepilok

Another early morning start, too early for breakfast in the hotel and it's off to the airport to catch the flight to Sandarkan...

A desperate search for strong coffee is undertaken, but there are other tasty treats on offer at the airport...

View of the islands and their stilted sea villages off Kota Kinabalu as we bank over the sea before heading back inland...

Our first view of Mount Kinabalu as we head inland... I'd been looking at the lower ridge for the peak before noticing it towering above...

A quick bus ride takes to us to the rehabilitation centre at Sepilok...

Having really looked forward to visiting Sepilok, I was a little disappointed that we only got to see a single staged feeding time and didn't get to see more of the work the centre carries out or walk more of the trails. The Orangs that visited the feeding were free to roam and they have no idea how many, if any, will show up on any given day...

The rangers were keen to keep certain of the resident long-tailed macaques away from the feeding station...

This one has just got a bunch of bananas and has slipped a couple into his mouth whole...

After leaving Sepilok we visited the Rain Forest Discovery Centre nearby, allegedly a haven for wild birds and even orang utans, however it was a Saturday and busy with shouty kids, which meant if a creature could move, it wouldn't be within 5 miles of the place; the scenery was pretty though...
