The route...
Flight from Heathrow to Miri via Kuala Lumpur
The trip started with a comfy but sleepless 14 hour flight to Kuala Lumpur and a bleary wander to the domestic terminal before boarding a flight to Miri.Délicieux! Why Monsieur Malaysian Airlines, with these fishy treats you are really spoiling us.
The airline food took a little getting used to - the small tub contains unprocessed peanuts and dry fish, which were much nicer than they sound, just as well as eggs, rice & fish became a regular feature on and off the planes...
A brief afternoon in Miri; there had been a recent religious festival and the town was virtually deserted, we couldn't find the sea, but we managed to stumble upon a shopping mall pumping out Slade's Merry Christmas Everyone... you can run but you can't hide it seems.
Chinese temple, a haven of calm and incense situated next to the less than fragrant fish market, which had everything from live catfish on trays to hammerhead sharks. Apparently there were turtles there too, fortunately I didn't see them or I may have had some sort of breakdown!
