Wow! I've never been to a place like Kathmandu before. At first glance it appears to be utter mayhem, but it all somehow gels together. A thronging mass of humanity, traffic, hornblowing, pollution, litter, cows, goats, dogs, religion and commerce.
Near Durbar Square...
Outside Kumari Chowk the home of the Kumari Devi (living goddess)...
You're not allowed to photograph the goddess herself, but you can photograph the window she appears at when she's not appearing. She looked a bit grumpy on our visit. Once she has her first period, she's out on her ear and back to an ordinary life, maybe she had some stomach pains that morning.

Durbar Square (Hanuman Dhoka)...
A morning spent staring in wonder at the architecture and avoiding dodgy Sadhu's and beggars of all ages and stories.

In Durbar Square cows compete with pigeons for any grain that's thrown down...

Bodnath Stupa, the largest in Nepal and an important centre for Tibetan Buddhists. Alas it was a gloomy day so the photo's don't do it justice...
