Following a boat ride to the
mainland during which we saw a flock of Flamingoes flying high above us, we
boarded a bus and headed for the airport.
Farmers on the dry flat
plain...
Pedestrians on the road - as
we got closer to the city of Juliaca which hosted the airport, the rural
scenes were replaced with fly-tipped rubbish. Juliaca was by far the least
attractive place we'd seen on the trip and with a reputation as source of
counterfeit goods and general lawlessness, we were glad just to be using its
airport (which was immaculately clean and modern, like all the airports we'd
seen in Peru)....

Lake Titicaca and
snowcapped mountains in the distance...
Back to the low coastal
cloud of Lima...
Miraflores & Barranco in
the bottom right corner...

Lima
Statue in Callao near the airport...

This motorcyclist had made
sure he was protected if he came off in Lima's crazy traffic, he seemed less
bothered about the pretty girl on the back...
A tribute to Vultan and his
brave hawkmen from Flash Gordon... or it could possibly be a statue of the
Archangel Michael...
Palms on Lima's beachfront...
It was slightly disturbing
to find that our room for the last night was in between two of the hotel's
general access toilets - it explains why we took ages to find it - the brain
fills in the gaps and would have assumed our room was the gents toilet -
luckily it wasn't...
