It's amazing how the prospect of getting dressed, undoing & doing up about 8 zips and trudging through wet undergrowth can help a bladder get through the night. We awoke to another misty start and a very fine breakfast to fortify us for the climb ahead.
We had been told the night before to ensure that all zips were tightly closed in the tents as there were spiders in the area, that while no harm to humans, had a habit of weeing on your face in the night as they crawl across which causes a swelling reaction - we scanned each other's faces at breakfast to see if anyone had been peed on in the night - fortunately not.

Fausto had to work hard with his machete to clear a path to the sulphur fumeroles - branches closing in behind Rowena...
Sulphur - if you dropped anything on the ground here, it made a thud that sounded as though it was hollow beneath us...
The smell of sulphur was very strong in the air and would burn your throat and lungs if you didn't take precautions.
