Stinky Birds
We continued to scour the lake for an Anaconda and Frank tried a little Piranha fishing, but alas both drew a blank. However, we had amazing array of butterflies all around us. Mostly after our sweaty salts, so I won't cast aspersions at the Hoatzins for their hygiene.
Series of butterfly shots on our various body parts - the sheer quantity and variety of butterflies, made this my other wildlife highlight of the rainforest oh, and you too Stinky birds of course...
Small
swallowtail...
It was so hot and the black wellies absorbed the heat so readily we all dangled our feet overboard to cool them down a little...
Giant
snail shell - about 4-5 inches long...
Leaf nibbling...
You have to look carefully at this picture to see there's something not
quite right - what looks like an unsupported, sharp-ended tree...
Nearly as thick as my sweaty head...
A Porcupine high in a tree - hadn't realised that they are such relaxed climbers - great nose...
Frank also up a tree - using just some looped vine around his feet, it's
nowhere near as easy as he made it look...
Back to our hut for a very relieving cold shower...
